This is the camp. Camp Puppy Haven, Vermont. The first real heat lands midweek. The humans are hauling fans up from the cellar. The dogs found the cool spot under the porch back in May.
It was Tuesday, June 30th. It was warm and close in Camp Puppy Haven, heat building for the week. We were working the day watch out of Cool Spot Custody. My partner's Doris. The boss is Captain Biscuit. My name's Puppy.
A man read the week's forecast aloud, each day worse than the last. He was sweating already, on a day that wasn't. We had nothing to say about Thursday.
