It's Puppy's world. We just live in it.

THiNK LiKE A DOG is a family company in the hills of Vermont.

The matriarch is a dog named Puppy.

She's crossed this country more times than most people we know. Vermont to California and back, again and again, front seat, watching it go by. She has opinions about truck stops. She came home anyway.

Camp Puppy Haven is what she does with the quiet now. It's the town as she keeps it — a running account of who came and who went, the dogs she knows, the trucks they ride in, the dock they swim off, everyone getting older slowly and more or less on schedule.

Keeping the record appears to be the best part of her day. We make the gear the camp store would have sold in 1974.

Puppy maintains the camp is real. We've stopped arguing.
