It was Wednesday, July 1st. It was near ninety in Camp Puppy Haven, and building. We were working the day watch out of Lake Reentry Detail. My partner's Murph. The boss is Lieutenant Fenn. My name's Puppy.
A man kept refreshing the forecast, hoping the heat would break. It gets worse Thursday. The dogs found the shade at nine and haven't moved since.
