It was Monday, October 26th. It was gray and raw in Camp Puppy Haven, the maples mostly bare. We were working the day watch out of the Seasonal Closings Division. My partner’s The Goose. The boss is Lieutenant Dot. My name’s Puppy.
The woman stood in the yard a long time after. The Goose leaned on her leg. Nobody closes something on purpose without missing it a little.
