It was Friday, October 23rd. It was cold and bright in Camp Puppy Haven, frost on the windshields till nine. We were working the morning watch out of Ice Scraper Recovery. My partner’s Murph. The boss is Lieutenant Soot. My name’s Puppy.

Sgt. Puppy's Field Notes are published most weekday mornings.
