Today's field note from Sgt. Puppy and the morning watch at Camp Puppy Haven, Vermont.

A swarm of honeybees settled on a mailbox post out on the flat Tuesday evening. By dark a man had come down with a cardboard box and a bedsheet and carried them home. This is Camp Puppy Haven, Vermont.
It was Wednesday, July 29th. It was gray and cool in Camp Puppy Haven, sixty-nine at the high of it, rain off and on all day. We were working the day watch out of Swarm Perimeter Detail. My partner's Dave. He's new. He brought a phone. The boss is Lieutenant Burl. My name's Puppy.
The humans spent an hour deciding how close was safe. The dogs settled that in the first ten seconds and never revisited it.
Sgt. Puppy's Field Notes are published most weekday mornings.
