Today's field note from Sgt. Puppy and the morning watch at Camp Puppy Haven, Vermont.

This is the camp. Camp Puppy Haven, Vermont, heading to ninety-five by afternoon. The creemee line is out the door and around the porch. Nobody in it is in a hurry.
It was Tuesday, July 14th. Besides the heat, thunderheads and threatened tornadoes are stacking up over the ridge by evening. We were working the day watch out of Cold Nose Advisory. My partner's The Goose. The boss is Lieutenant Wolf. My name's Puppy.
A woman had been standing in the creemee line for twenty minutes deciding between maple and black raspberry. Her dog had already decided. Nobody was listening to the dog.
Sgt. Puppy's Field Notes are published most weekday mornings.
