Today's field note from Sgt. Puppy and the morning watch at Camp Puppy Haven, Vermont.

This is the camp. Camp Puppy Haven, Vermont. The corn's finally tall enough to hide in. The dogs found that out before the kids did.
It was Friday, July 24th. It was sunny in Camp Puppy Haven, a welcome break from the muggy stretch. We were working the day watch out of Sprinkler Jurisdiction Detail. My partner's Doris. The boss is Lieutenant Rue. My name's Puppy.
The sprinkler was set up for the tomato bed. By four o'clock it was for everybody. Nobody minds. Nobody's supposed to.
Sgt. Puppy's Field Notes are published most weekday mornings.
