A ladder went up against the church steeple in June. Nobody's been on it since the Fourth. Nobody wants to be the one to take it down. This is Camp Puppy Haven, Vermont.
It was Thursday, July 23rd. It was sixty degrees and clear at first light in Camp Puppy Haven, cool for July. We were working the day watch out of Deferred Maintenance Detail. My partner's Dave. The boss is Lieutenant Cooper. My name's Puppy.
A man keeps a list of what he'll get to. A dog keeps a list of what's in front of him. Only one of those gets finished.
