This is the camp. Camp Puppy Haven, Vermont. The swallows built over the front door in May. The humans have been using the side door since. Nobody's mentioned it.
It was Friday, July 17th. It was fifty-eight degrees at sunup in Camp Puppy Haven, clear, headed for the mid-seventies. We were working the day watch out of Side Door Detail. My partner's Doris. The boss is Lieutenant Clove. My name's Puppy.
A woman stood in the yard telling her husband this was the best day of the year and they ought to be doing something with it. They were doing something with it. Doris had that part figured out an hour ago.
