This is the camp. Camp Puppy Haven, Vermont. A fair Monday, warm but not showing off, a few clouds passing through with nowhere to be. The dogs had the right idea about the whole thing.
It was Monday, July 20th. It was mild and partly sunny in Camp Puppy Haven. We were working the day watch out of Perfectly Good Day Detail. My partner's Doris. The boss is Lieutenant Hazel. My name's Puppy.
A woman kept refreshing the forecast for a day that had already arrived. It was perfect. Doris was outside living in it.
