Today's field note from Sgt. Puppy and the morning watch at Camp Puppy Haven, Vermont.

A man bought a riding lawnmower for a quarter-acre lawn. The quarter-acre is mostly ledge. He has mowed it twice since Sunday. This is Camp Puppy Haven, Vermont.
It was Tuesday, June 16th. It was warm in Camp Puppy Haven, thunderheads building over the ridge by afternoon. We were working the day watch out of Existential Dread Mitigation. My partner's Murph. The boss is Captain Soot. My name's Puppy.
By four the thunder came in. The dog went into the tool shed. The man followed him in and stayed. For once, he had the right idea.
Sgt. Puppy's Field Notes are published most weekday mornings.
