Today's field note from Sgt. Puppy and the morning watch at Camp Puppy Haven, Vermont.
This is the camp. Camp Puppy Haven, Vermont. The jack-o'-lanterns are caving in on the porches. Nobody's moving them. The squirrels are handling it.
It was Monday, November 2nd. It was gray and raw in Camp Puppy Haven, the maples bare to the twig. We were working the day watch out of Porch Squash Detail. My partner's Murph. The boss is Lieutenant Fig. My name's Puppy.

Sgt. Puppy's Field Notes are published most weekday mornings.
