This is the camp. Camp Puppy Haven, Vermont. Two hundred acres of black mud and bare maples. The sap's running. The dogs are unbothered.
It was Monday, April 27th. It was sunny in Camp Puppy Haven. We were working the morning watch out of Stick Investigation. My partner's Doris. The boss is Captain Mabel. My name's Puppy.
A woman had driven up from Brooklyn to do a digital detox. She'd brought two phones in case the first one died. We had work to do.
