It was Friday, May 1st. It was still chilly in Camp Puppy Haven. We were working the day watch out of the Anti-Brooding Squad. My partner's Murph. The boss is Captain Otis. My name's Puppy.
A man was out on the porch trying to figure out what he'd done with the first four months of the year. The sun was on his face. He hadn't noticed.
